WKU Meteorology student receives internship

Astrid Suarez Gonzalez, a junior Meteorology major in the Department of Geography and Geology, was recently awarded a summer 2009 research internship at the National Weather Center (NWC) in Norman Oklahoma. Astrid was one of 10 students chosen from a pool of nearly 80 for the National Science Foundation (NSF) funded summer research experience for undergraduates (REU). (more…)

2009 SCEP season is open

The NWS has announced that they are receiving applications for the 2009 SCEP. Anyone with an interest in working for the NWS after graduation should make sure to complete the application. All materials are due by March 5, 2009. Students must be junior year to higher to be eligible. Contact me for more information.

The B.S. Meteorology degree passed its final hurdle today at the Council for Postsecondary Education meeting today in Frankfort, KY. The degree program was approved by the WKU Board of Regents on January 26. The incoming freshman class of Fall 2007 will be the first official cohort of B.S. Meteorology majors at WKU although they will be joined by a few transfer students and students who started as freshman in Fall 2006. If you are interested in pursuing the new B.S.
