WKU Meteorology

Not too much going on in the weather world. Nice pattern of partly sunny skies and fall like temperatures have keep up a repetition through the early parts of the week.  Things should remain calm throughout our area, with surface high pressure dominating the Ohio valley. Zonal flow is also expected to continue throughout the week. Temperature today will hit the lower 60’s before dropping to a low of 40 tonight. A bit cooler tomorrow with a high of only 52, followed by another chilly night with a low hitting right at freezing.

After a soggy evening overnight tonight, the current storm system should continue to advance on to the northeast, leaving clear and sunny conditions behind.  Read the rest of this entry »

While stubborn overcast conditions remain over the area this afternoon and evening, the skies should clear out tonight for a generally nice Thursday afternoon ahead of more rain and thunderstorms tomorrow night.  Read the rest of this entry »

-  Two pattern changes next week. The first will be the establishment of a ridge over the east due a monster west coast trough from Monday until the end of the week the second change will be when a sharp cold front brings a less amplified version of this trough east when that happens will be a BIG factor in the Halloween weather forecast. 1. For this afternoon a dry slot in behind the main rain band will move into the region allowing for a decrease in showers and storms this afternoon. Highs should be in the upper 60’s  to lower 70’s across the region with winds shifting from south ahead of the front to northwest behind the front later tonight. The frontal passage will allow low temps to fall into the upper 40’s overnight. Read the rest of this entry »

Friday is here and it is wet and cold outside. Today we can expect a high temperature of around 50 degrees with a chance of light scattered showers as we get into the afternoon and evening hours. Your Saturday looks to be colder than today with highs in the upper 40’s. There is a slight chance of showers throughout the day on Saturday but should remain mostly cloudy and dry for most of the day. Read the rest of this entry »

It looks as if the rest of Wednesday will stay dry, but you can expect it to remain mostly cloudy for the rest of today with highs lucky to reach the mid 50’s. Rain will resume late Wednesday night into Thursday morning but should taper off during the afternoon hours, with the rest of the day remaining mostly cloudy. Read the rest of this entry »
