As of now, the National Weather Service has our county under a Freeze Warning from tonight at 9 PM to tomorrow at 10 AM. We will have temperatures bottom out below freezing tonight and overnight, raising the concern for widespread frost. Not only is this a nuisance for you, as you will have to bundle up on your morning commute to work, but it poses a threat for sensitive vegetation. Thus, make sure to cover any plants that are outdoors to pack in the heat that’s needed to keep them alive throughout the night. Moreover, it wouldn’t be a bad idea to do the same with pipes to prevent them from bursting.

Scattered showers will reign our weather conditions today as a cold front moves eastward through the region. This will occur mainly before 10am and after noon. Expect overcast skies throughout most of the day as it will be a soggy one! The high is 51F and the low is 29F. South central Kentucky is at a marginal risk for severe weather, with the main threat being heavy rain and gusting winds, though hail and an isolated tornado cannot be ruled out. Though the biggest threat will remain south of us, definitely have a way to stay weather aware! Frost will be likely throughout Wednesday night and into Thursday morning as temperatures dip into the upper 20’s. Pack that jacket with you on your morning commute for Thursday because we will start the day chilly!

Today, in 1960, the city of Buffalo in the state of New York had localized flash flooding from the melting of heavy snow accumulations as temperatures rose fairly high, fairly fast. This warming period took place over the span of a week, but on this day, the temperature peaked at 69°F, which was a new record for the city. According to the National Weather Service, the well-known Tonawanda creek reached a record-breaking high stage of 16.95 feet in the northern portion of Erie county. How crazy is that?

We finally catch a break from the rain after a stormy Saturday night. Though clear conditions are set in place, we are also observing a cooling trend set in for this week. Temperatures this morning kicked us off in the mid 30s! We will be warming into the low to mid 60s though, with a high of 64F. High pressure setting in to our west will bring winds from the northwest, giving us a cool kick throughout today! Tomorrow we start dry, with temperatures flirting with the lower 70s. However, this break from the rain does not come without a price, as we are tracking yet another round of scattered showers to roll in Tuesday night and into Wednesday so definitely keep that rain gear handy as we approach the mid week.

Mostly sunny skies arrive in south central Kentucky after we looked at a severe weather threat yesterday. The cold front is now propagating eastward as a high pressure system dominates our area. The high today is 65 with a low around 47. Tomorrow will also be clear, with a few high clouds possible. Temperatures on Saturday will be a bit cooler than today, but are expected to remain seasonable for the most part. Sunday calls for another chance of isolated showers before 1pm, though the rest of the day looks clear afterwards.

Good morning, everyone! In today’s post, we will go into detail on what to expect for the soon-to-come severe weather event!

Today, strong to severe thunderstorms will be possible this evening and overnight. Our main concerns will be damaging winds, heavy downpours, large hail, and isolated tornadoes.

The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory for our area, as wind gusts may reach 40 to over 50 miles per hour ahead of a cold front overnight. Make sure any furniture or decor outside are safe and secure for the night.

As for precipitation totals, we are looking at up to 1 inch of rainfall, with locally higher values. This will bring about the threat for localized flash flooding in low-lying areas, so be cautious when on the roads.

There is a chance of isolated tornadoes forming, though this will depend largely on the amount of sunlight that we get after the first round of showers to supply the atmosphere with the right amount of instability.

Make sure you stay weather aware throughout the day, especially as we get closer to the evening and overnight hours!

Expect round 2 of rain to come through on Thursday, with rainfall totals rounding up to be about 1.5-2″ by friday morning. In other words, be prepared for a soggy week as a cold front passes through the area due to a low pressure system off to our northwest. The good news is that the severe weather threat will be staying south of us, so we’re just looking at getting our feet wet at most these next few days. The high for today is 73F and the low is 58F. Isolated showers may occur before 1pm, with mostly cloudy conditions dominating the remainder of the day.

Tomorrow, we will have a break from the gloomy trend that we had to start out our week. Although we can’t rule out a stray shower, if one does pop-up, it will only produce a trace amount of precipitation. For the most part, skies will be mostly sunny and a fresh breeze will accompany mild temperatures. Our high for the day will likely exceed the 70 degree mark, so get outdoors if you can. Don’t forget to have sunblock, protective clothing, and water on hand because the UV index will be high (around 6 or 7) for our area.

Sunshine continues after a beautiful weekend due to a high pressure system now to our northeast! This has Brought southerly flow and clear conditions, keeping us seasonably warm for this time of year! Definitely enjoy this because we are tracking a soggy few days ahead as 2 rain making systems approach the region. Though no severe weather is expected, the rain is looking like a continuous pattern for the majority of this work week! The high for today is 70F and the low is 41F. Clouds will be increasing throughout the day. Our next break from the rain comes this weekend, but stay tuned with us as we continue to examine this setup!

We finally get a break from the rain that we had Wednesday and yesterday as a high pressure system rests over the Great Lakes. This will bring mostly sunny skies and dry air into the region. The high for today is 52F and the low is 31F with winds coming out of the northeast at 16mph, giving us a cool kick! Temperatures warm up as we head into the weekend, with highs being in the mid to low 60’s. Lows will remain in the 30’s though, so if you are commuting in the late night or early morning, make sure to bring that warm gear with you because you’ll need it!
