Good morning, folks, and happy Friday!
Today’s Forecast
It is shaping up to be a beautiful October Friday around the region! You can expect mostly sunny skies with highs in the low 70s and a slight cool breeze. For tonight, we maintain mostly clear skies with temperatures dipping to near 40. In some more rural areas, lows could bottom out in the mid-to-upper 30s. This has prompted a frost advisory for the region for tonight. Be sure to protect any sensitive vegetation as we get our first true taste of some cooler autumn air.
What to Watch For
For the the weekend, expect cooler temperatures and continued calm conditions. Saturday and Sunday will both bring sunny skies with highs in the mid-to-upper 60s. Saturday night into Sunday morning, the cold will be slightly more intense, prompting a freeze watch for the region. Temperatures in the mid 30s in the city with temperatures near or at freezing possible in more rural areas. Again, take appropriate frost and freeze preventative measures. Next week looks to bring a slight warming trend, with showers possible by Wednesday.
Weather Fact!
If we do see a freeze (temperature at or below 32 degrees) on Sunday morning, it will be the earliest since 2014. That year, the temperature dipped to 32 degrees in Bowling Green on October 5th. Last year, Bowling Green did not see its first freeze until November 3rd. (KY Mesonet).
A bit of chill in the air sounds exciting to me! Maybe a flannel, and a haunted house are in order? Regardless how you spend it, have a great weekend everyone!
