Big Changes Ahead

General Discussion: A cold front looks to sweep in from the west tomorrow, accompanied with a chance of showers and maybe a thunderstorm starting tonight and not ending until tomorrow night. This cold front looks to end our abnormally warm stretch that we have been in for the week so far. Cooler and drier weather looks to then filter into the area late in the weekend, and looks to last through at least early to mid next week.

Today has been a very mild and breezy day thus far, characterized with partly cloudy skies. The clouds should increase gradually in coverage throughout the afternoon hours ahead of that cold front.

Tonight: Low-63

Tonight looks to be a mild night for late October standards, as that southerly flow continues ahead of that approaching cold front. A 30% chance of showers mainly after midnight does exist for tonight, all associated with that approaching cold front.

Tomorrow: High-75 Low-59

Tomorrow and tomorrow night looks to be quite wet as that cold front pushes through the area. No severe weather is expected, due to lack of appreciable instability. Showers with maybe some embedded thunder and lightning here and there looks to accompany the front.

Beautiful Weather Continues

General Discussion: A stout area of surface high pressure is still centered over the North Carolina and South Carolina general region. It looks to generally stay anchored over that region through late on Friday, then looks to lose its grip and move further east. A cold front then looks to sweep into the region from the west on Saturday, accompanied with some showers mainly during the day on Saturday. Behind this cold front, a cooler and more seasonable airmass looks to filter into the region on Sunday into early next week. This area looks to be located on the west side of this area of surface high pressure centered over the Carolina’s region through the rest of the work week, resulting in southerly flow and abnormally warm temperatures. Temperatures for the rest of the work week look to top out in the upper 70’s to maybe even 80 degrees in a few locations in our region.

Temperatures made it all the way up into the upper 70’s today areawide. This coupled with a light breeze and sunny skies made today a downright beautiful and enjoyable fall day to be out and about.

Tonight: Low-51

Tonight looks to be very nice with mostly clear skies and a light southerly breeze.

Tomorrow: High-78 Low-51

Tomorrow looks to basically shape up to be a carbon copy of today, though may be a degree or two cooler in some spots. Bottom line, tomorrow looks to be another abnormally warm and beautiful fall day in the area.

Sunny, with a high near 78. Calm wind becoming southwest around 5 mph.

Friday Night
A 20 percent chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 60. Light south wind.

Nice Warm Up Underway

General Discussion: A large area of surface high pressure is currently centered out to our east across the North and South Carolina region. It looks to generally stay anchored out over that region through the end of the work week, then looks to move off to the east as a cold front moves into the region by late week/early weekend accompanied with some showers and possibly a thunderstorm. This area looks to be on  the western side of this area of high pressure for the rest of the week, which puts our region in a southerly return flow pattern. This will result in a gradual warm up in temperatures throughout the work week from around 70 today to the upper 70’s by Thursday and Friday. Temperatures then look to cool down to seasonal normal values by the weekend behind this next cold front.

Temperatures have rebounded nicely from the middle 30’s this morning to around 70 this afternoon. Though, such significant diurnal temperature swings are common in very dry air masses, such as the one we are under the control of now.

Tonight: Low- 42

Low temperatures look to be a little bit warmer than they were last night, since that southerly flow has kicked in.

Tomorrow: High-72 Low-45

Tomorrow looks to offer up a basic carbon copy of today temperature and sky cover wise, though may be just a degree or two warmer. All in all, tomorrow looks to be in the low 70’s under mainly sunny skies, making tomorrow a beautiful day to get outside.

Looking Ahead:

Tonight
Clear, with a low around 42. South wind 3 to 5 mph.
Tuesday
Sunny, with a high near 72. Light south wind increasing to 5 to 9 mph in the morning.
Tuesday Night
Mostly clear, with a low around 44. Light south wind.
Wednesday
Sunny, with a high near 77. South wind 3 to 8 mph.
Wednesday Night
Partly cloudy, with a low around 52. South wind 3 to 5 mph.
Thursday
Mostly sunny, with a high near 78.
Thursday Night
Partly cloudy, with a low around 53.
Friday
Mostly sunny, with a high near 79.
Friday Night
Partly cloudy, with a low around 58.
Saturday
A 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 73.
Saturday Night
A 50 percent chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 57.
Sunday
A 40 percent chance of showers. Partly sunny, with a high near 66.
Sunday Night
A 30 percent chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 49.
Monday
A 30 percent chance of showers. Partly sunny, with a high near 64.

Chilly but Clear

Discussion:

Today was absolutely gorgeous! There is a chance for some scattered showers in the overnight hours as a cold front moves through. This will push our temperatures down over the next few days. We will be seeing the coldest air yet of the season. There is a chance that the overnight lows will be in the low to mid 30’s over the weekend. The high pressure that will move in behind the front will enhance the ability for the temperatures to drop since the skies will stay clear. This will definitely give us a chance for frost, so be sure to keep an eye on your outdoor plants and any other sensitive items outside.

Another Beautiful Week Ahead!

Discussion:

The cold front that moved through yesterday evening and last night brought us not only thunderstorms and rain, but also cooler temperatures. We’re about 2.5 degrees cooler tonight than we were 24 hours ago, we can absolutely see the difference that the front has made across the region.

As far as the weather for the rest of the week goes, it will be quiet and beautiful. A high pressure system is moving in behind the front and should be totally over the region for the rest of the week. This will keep us with temperatures in the 60’s and 70’s during the day, but much cooler temperatures in the overnight hours. These conditions make this week a great one to go and enjoy outdoor fall activities such as pumpkin patches and corn mazes! We’ll keep you up to date as the week goes on.
