Forecast for Wednesday (11/4) and Thursday (11/5)

Wednesday Forecast

Hello everyone! After a nice start to yesterday, cloud cover increased, along with windspeeds across the region ahead of a system that has been moving across the central part of the county. This system has been impacting us this morning and will continue to throughout the day today for much of the Midsouth. For our high here in Bowling Green today, we will see a high of 65°F, and a low of 52°F.

Precipitation will continue to move through the region throughout the rest of today. By the time it is all said and done, we could see totals across Tennessee and Kentucky of up to one inch or more, so that could be something to stay aware of today. Once this rain moves out of the way along with our cold front, we will see cooler temperatures set in leading into the weekend.

Thursday Forecast

For our Thursday, our high will be 64°F, and the low will be 51°F. The rain from today will be almost completely out of the area by Thursday. So, it will be a much dryer, cooler, and sunnier day tomorrow. The biggest thing for tomorrow’s forecast is the wind. We will see NNW winds at 1o mph. So tomorrow overall looks like a beautiful day, assuming the ground dries up.

This trend of cooler temperatures, compared to the mid 70s that we have seen, is likely going to continue, at least for a couple days. A second upper tropospheric shortwave system is looking to merge with the system that just moved across much of the country. This merge will cause the western wave to string out and bring zonal flow across much of the southern US, and Midsouth. These last few days could be the first sign of the strong temperature imbalance of the winter season finally beginning to take shape. The SPC mesoanalysis maps don’t show the consistent high pressure across the south anymore.

National Weather Headlines

On Sunday, November 1st, a private jet crashed in Florida. The NTSB is still currently investigating the incident. However, looking at radar imagery at the time of the crash, as well as the path of the plane, the plane crossed paths with a developing thunderstorm over West Palm Beach. This storm developed in the area very quickly, and the strong updraft, and convection could possibly be the main cause of the crash. More information will come later on from the investigation, but it is an interesting case for anyone that is interested.

That is all for the next few days. Have a great midweek!
