Forecast for Tuesday 10/20

Good morning everyone and happy Tuesday! Today will be a mostly sunny day across Bowling Green and the Mid-South. A high temperature of 72°F is expected around 3 in the afternoon, and the low near 43°F is expected overnight moving into Wednesday. No precipitation is expected. Northerly surface winds should prevail and sustain under 5 miles per hour.

Taking a broad look at the weather across the United States, an expansive 1035 millibar high pressure system continues to meander across the Midwest and Great Lakes regions, extending down along the Gulf Coast. A developing Rex block pattern– where a high-pressure system sits directly north of a low-pressure system– is visible off the coast into the Atlantic Ocean. This pattern allows for weak meridional flow over Kentucky, keeping the cooler air over the region. Since the advancing cold front last Friday, a majority of the country has been starved of moisture. This suppression will continue given the subsidence and surface heating across Kentucky.

This pattern will continue to persist in our region throughout the week. That’s all for now, have a nice day!
