good morning/afternoon and happy Friday, today we will see a cold front that stretches from New York to Texas cross our area bringing us some fall temperatures. Cooling the air enough to drop today’s high to 60, and the low to 44. Cold fronts often deliver rain on the leading edge of the front, however for us there is only chances for small, isolated storms. The low-pressure center is far enough from us that we lack the capability to mix the cold air coming in with the already warmer moist air here. As well as a dry nose drove moisture out around the same time the front gets here. Winds are predicted to be around 13mph throughout the day due to how intense and deep that northeast low pressure is, tight gradients and fast wind barbs show easily the cold front can bulldoze the current air mass.
As for the weekend we will see similar cooler temperatures persist on Saturday before slowly climbing back up to warmer temps. High on Saturday will be 59 and the low will drop to 39, even further than Friday night as no cloud cover is predicted to trap heat at the surface at night. Sunday will return us to 66 as our high, and again the low will drop to the upper thirties because of the clear night skies.
No rain over the weekend, so enjoy the taste of fall while it’s here.
